UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 1, 2017. Every one in three Yekaterinburg-based customers shopping with MegaFon online places their order through their smartphone. These customers are mostly men in the 25-40 age group who prefer to shop using their mobile Internet connection, MegaFon Ural’s press service reports.

Phones, smartphones, and tablets are the top three online shopping bestsellers. People tend to buy online in order to save time. According to GFK, these are Yekaterinburg-based customers who say more often than any other Russian shoppers that this is their primary motive to look for things on the Internet.

Online shoppers like to choose their mobile devices here and now, so they increasingly tend to visit online stores using their smartphones and tablets. The number of smartphone-placed orders for MegaFon has gone up by 33% since the start of the year. Shoppers say they see customer pick-up as their preferred delivery mode.

‘Some 80% of online shoppers prefer to collect their goods themselves, which is why we opened a pick-up terminal right in the heart of the city recently. Customers can pick up their order any time as well as have it tested or ask for a professional’s advice,’ says MegaFon Ural Retail Director Alexei Bykov.
