UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 29, 2017. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) received a thank-you letter from Magnitogorsk Council for helping to set up a park next to the city’s Eternal Flame Memorial, the company press service reports.
The thank-you letters were given out in the course of a large cabinet meeting at Magnitogorsk Council.
‘Given the local climate, the period for outdoor construction jobs is quite limited, so some people doubted the park would be completed in time. Still, thanks to our coordinated efforts, ongoing supervision of those in charge, and, of course, good weather, everything has been finished. The locals can now enjoy a new cosy place where they can now go for a walk and will soon be able to go skiing,’ says Mayor Sergey Berdnikov.
The thank-you letter addressed to MMK Director-General Pavel Shilyayev was given to the plant’s Head of Administration Vyacheslav Nizhegorodov. There were also letters addressed to Director of MMK United Service Company Sergey Leskov and heads of Trest Magnitostroy, OKS, Prokatmontazh, Universal Plant, Viktoria, DorServis, Trest Vodokanal, Magnitogorskinveststroy, DSU, and Parki Magnitki.
According to Berdnikov, they keep working on urban improvements and are now considering setting up a park in the southern suburbs of the city. Besides, quite a few trees and shrubs get planted on a regular basis.
