EVRAZ NTMK Starts Making Heavy-Duty Beams

29 November 2017 (14:45)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 29, 2017. EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) now makes high-strength construction beams (strength grade: S390 and S440) that are currently unique to Russia, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Relations Center reports.

‘Workers from our converter shop developed a special chemical composition for the new steel type. As it uses vanadium allowing addition and the unique rolling technology, EVRAZ NTMK is now the only company making rolled double-T beams with strength grades 390 and 440. These beams can be used for heavy-duty construction frames and allow for reduced metal spending (-5% to 15%), which brings down the prime cost,’ the Center says.

EVRAZ NTMK has mastered fifteen new types of double-T beams since the start of the year and can now make four beam varieties in accordance with the US ASTM standards and eleven varieties in accordance with the new Russian GOST R standard.

The 25K7 10, 30K8 13, and 25Sh4-6 section bar types make it easier for metal frame designers and assemblers to design and assemble high-rise apartment buildings and make the entire frame more compact. The new section bars complement the existing range of double-T beams and thus make it possible to fit all the necessary building parameters.

In the future, EVRAZ NTMK is planning to manufacture the entire range of beams and bars that meet the new GOST standards.
