Yekaterinburg: Hunting Supply Stores Can’t Sell Guns During World Cup

24 November 2017 (15:11)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 24, 2017. Yekaterinburg’s hunting supply stores are already looking at the losses they are likely to incur during the upcoming World Football Championship 2018, as there will be a ban on selling guns at that time.

Stary Slon’s representatives told UrBC the ban falls right on the seasonal sale increase period.

‘People hunt ducks in the spring, and then sales usually peak in the summer throughout early fall. There’s nothing of the sort to be expected with this ban in place. Most likely, our only revenues will come from optical appliances and knives,’ the store representative Ivan told UrBC.

The ban itself looks surprising, he said.

‘Whenever a person got killed with firearms, the gun had always been bought a few years in advance, or the perpetrator got hold of the gun by chance,’ he explained.

Other local gun-sellers had not expected a ban, either. Arsenal, for example, refused to comment, saying they had just heard the news themselves.

It was Rosgvardia that reminded the hunting supply stores of the gun-selling ban on November 22. The ban will hold from May 25 to July 25, 2018.
