UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 31, 2017. Rosset’s Federal Grid Company United Energy Systems (FGC UES) competed the overhauls of two autotransformer units at its 500-kilowatt Kholmogorskaya Power Substation and 220-kilowatt Urengoy Substation in Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous Region, the company press service reports.

The goal was to ensure more reliable power supply to oil and gas companies operating in the area and to the key cities of Noyabrsk and Novy Urengoy.

‘The overhauls included inspection of switchgear and the active parts of auto transformer units. The auto transformer unit at Urengoy Substation got a new oil pump; also, the cooling system, the overflow tank, and the high-voltage leads had to get repaired. New metering gauges were introduced. The same is true of the auto transformer unit at Kholmogorskaya Power Substation,’ the press service says.

An auto transformer unit is the primary power equipment at a substation and is meant for voltage level translation. Timely repairs increase the unit’s lifespan and reduce the risk of emergencies.
