UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 26, 2017. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won in the national Competitive Purchasing Leader Contest, MMK Information, PR & Advertising Department reports.
‘MMK won in Purchasing Transactions Efficiency category, which means the plant offers its suppliers a transparent and accessible selection procedure and has a technologically advanced and well-regulated purchasing policy,’ the Department says.
127 large Russian companies competed for prizes in six different categories all in all. MMK shared the first prize in Purchasing Transactions Efficiency with NLMK Group. The prizes were awarded by panel of fifty-four independent experts from among professional community members, purchasing directors of major national businesses, and reputed market experts.
‘MMK presented its project on a multi-faceted supplier selection approach and a consignment warehouse as a way to use working capital more efficiently. The company set up a number of cross-functional groups in order to develop a tailor-made approach to selecting a particular supplier for a particular product type. First, the groups worked on the GOST-regulated produce that needs to be purchased every year: lighting fixtures, fittings (diameter: Ø ≤ 250 mm), spare parts for tractors, cables, and computing equipment,’ MMK representatives say.
