UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 23, 2017. The telecommunications provider MegaFon is now opening a new, digital economy world to its government-run customers, the company press service reports.

MegaFon launched a new Government-Run Business & Special Projects Development Department. Evgeny Ivanov is now head of the Department for MegaFon Ural. He will be in charge of developing and introducing MegaFon’s integrated services at government-run organizations and businesses in today’s digital world.

‘These are the government structures that act as trend-setters on the digital technologies market, as they ask for breakthrough ideas and digital economy mechanisms. We are keeping up with the times and have already come up with a number of solutions for the modern urban environment and for federal constituencies’ management and organization; the solutions are meant to make the city dwellers’ life more comfortable and improve the quality of government administration. Big data, wireless and cloud services, telemedicine, ‘smart’ and safe towns and areas are our key focus points,’ Ivanov says.

According to BCG Consulting, Russia is currently 39th in the rating of the world’s eighty-five digital economy countries. The country is five to eight years behind the digital leaders such as South Korea, Denmark, the UK, Sweden, and Norway. The Urals are among the fast-growing parts of Russia, but Moscow and Saint Petersburg are still the two top digital territories.
