29 September 2017 (14:57)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 29, 2017. Residents of and visitors to Akademicheskiy District will be able to take part in the unusual celebrations on September 30, RSG-Akademicheskoye’s press service reports.

The city’s newest district was founded eight years ago this month; the celebration will take place on the feast of Saints Faith, Hope and Charity and their mother Sophia the Martyr. At 8.30 AM, a liturgy will be held at the local church, followed by the final round of a children’s art contest. At 10 AM, volunteers will take part in a clean-up session and will plant a tree alley to celebrate the place’s 8th birthday.

A number of mini-shows will be performed by musicians and entertainers at three different locations: at 12 PM, the performance will begin in the alley between 11 and 13 Pavel Shamanov St; at 1 PM, there will start a show at 153 Krasnolesye St; and at 4 PM, there will be a concert at 111 Krasnolesye St next to the sculpture of Assol, Faith, Hope, and Charity.

The biggest evening performance will begin at RSG-Akademicheskoye’s new office at 57 Akademik Sakharov St at 6 PM. There will be some prize-drawing as well, and all the visitors will be able to contribute to a two-meter-large artwork: a wall of avatars. A professional cartoonist will perform an art experiment and will draw the visitors’ avatars right there.

Finally, the final round of the photo contest #AKADEMICHESKIY8 will also be held on September 30. The winner is going to get an IPhone8 as a prize.
