FGC UES Renovates Kamenskaya Substation in Sverdlovsk Region
21 September 2017 (11:53)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 21, 2017. Rosset’s Federal Grid Company United Energy Systems (FGC UES) is now installing a new, 500 MVA autotransformer unit at its 220-kilowatt Kamenskaya Power Substation, the company press service reports.
The original autotransformer unit was put in place in 1957 and is now getting replaced with a new 500 MVA-strong one. This is expected to make power supply to Kamensk Uralsky Metallurgical Plant (KUMZ) and Ural Aluminum Plant (UAZ) more reliable and to improve the power substation’s workload capacity.
Additionally, the four sections of a 220-kilowatt outdoor switchgear have already been replaced and the new sections connected to 220-kilowatt Kamenskaya-KUMZ main and Kamenskaya-Elektroliznaya main. Two new 220-kilowatt autotransformers (consolidated capacity: 500 MVA) and a firefighting pump station were launched, and the station’s 110-kilowatt outdoor switchgear got partially reconstructed.
‘The new equipment is highly reliable, costs less to maintain, and has better technical characteristics,’ the press service says.
