UrBC, Chelyabinsk, September 20, 2017. Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky attended the startup-and-commissioning ceremony for the new copper-filling line at Russian Copper Company’s Karabashmed. This was part of his business visit to Karabash on September 18, 2017, Russian Copper Company’s press service reports.

The new automated equipment is expected to increase the plant’s metallurgical department’s production output as well as to reduce the amount of excess gas thanks to a powerful gas-suction and filtering system. This also means an improvement in working conditions.

‘The plant is undergoing upgrades on a large scale. We implement all of our renovation plans, including the reconstruction of the plant’s metallurgical departments, which has been completed today. This only means environmental improvements for the locals. Everything that used to be emitted into the air now gets trapped and neutralized. As a result, the nearby mountains are covered with greenery again,’ Dubrovsky said.

During a tour of the plant’s production site, Russian Copper Company Chair of the BOD Igor Altushkin told the governor about the plant’s large-scale renovations and the projects to enhance its environmental safety. The two executives also went to the new sewage treatment division: the introduction of this division has meant a full-cycle recirculated water system for the plant and thus a lower environmental impact.
