UrBC, Chelyabinsk, September 20, 2017. Russian Copper Company opened Metallurg, a new, multi-purpose sports facility in Karabash, where the company runs its Karabashmed, the company press service reports.
The solemn opening ceremony took place on September 18, 2017. The event was attended by Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky, Russian Copper Company Chair of the BOD Igor Altushkin, and Mayor of Karabash Oleg Budanov.
Metallurg is one of the first projects Russian Copper Company has implemented as part of its agreement with Chelyabinsk Region Government on urban improvements in Karabash. The agreement was signed at Sochi 2017 Russian Investment Forum in February 2017.
‘Socially responsible companies are not unusual for Chelyabinsk Region, and Russian Copper Company is definitely a leader in this respect. We can see the positive outcomes of their social projects. There are always stable jobs for the locals, and there will be more jobs to come as the company keeps expanding. The workers’ pay has been going up, too. The sports facility we are opening today is a clear sign of things getting better in Karabash,’ Governor Dubrovsky said at the ceremony.
Metallurg is a 2,000-m2-large facility, complemented with a 5,000-m2-large stadium, with a volleyball/basketball/mini-football/tennis area and a martial arts area. There are also three gyms, locker rooms, shower rooms, and coaches’ rooms.
