19 September 2017 (12:56)

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, September 19, 2017. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) is now among Russia’s top ten environmentally proactive companies in the O&G and metallurgical sector for the first half of the year, the company press service reports.

The rating was compiled by Zhivaya Planeta Chanel and MOMRI and featured environmental initiatives put forth by thirty-three Russian metallurgical and O&G enterprises; all the initiatives got some media coverage in January through June. MMK came tenth in the rating (just like six months previously) and was the only ferrous metallurgical enterprise on the list.

The rating points to MMK’s important environmental projects such as reconstruction of sulphur gas-filtering units at Sintering Plant 2, reconstruction of recirculated water system at MMK, and the organization of a research-to-practice conference on Environmental Safety at Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises and Nearby Towns.
