UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 31, 2017. The telecommunications provider MegaFon celebrated its 15th anniversary by launching 4G Internet connection in the village of Kharp in Yamal Peninsula, the company press service reports.

‘The fourth-generation network is now available in the remotest part of the peninsula. We introduced 4G connection in Kharp, where the Ural Mountains begin, in the year MegaFon turned fifteen. Locals can now enjoy really speedy data transfer,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Director Valeriy Velichko.

MegaFon expanded its 4G network by 33% since the start of the year (covering 150 more Ural towns) to ensure better quality content viewing.

‘They say Yamal is the land of the strong. I would also say this is the land of the clever and the responsible. Only strong, clever, and responsible people and businesses can survive and grow in this climatically challenging territory. Thanks to MegaFon for its cooperation, network expansion in Yamal, and providing locals with reliable connection,’ says Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous Region’s acting IT & Communications Director Pavel Kosmovsky.

Local subscribers tend to prefer their 4G smartphones for Internet surfing and are currently responsible for 67% of all online traffic. Moderately priced gadgets, including 4G-supporting ones, are among the best-selling devices on offer from MegaFon.
