UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 2, 2017. EVRAZ Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) has become the Best Resource-Saving & Conservation-Oriented Company in the SCR contest for mining and metallurgical enterprises once again this year, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s press office reports.

The plant received a special certificate for its environmental performance in 2016; NTMK holds a similar certificate as an acknowledgement of its efforts in 2015 as well.

‘The contest is coordinated by Russia’s Industry & Trade Ministry, Russia’s Mining & Metallurgical Association (AMROS), and Russia’s Mining & Metallurgical Trade Union. 56 enterprises from 24 different parts of Russia took part in the competition. The winners’ certificates were signed by AMROS Executive Director Alexei Okunkov, the Industry Ministry’s Metallurgical Department’s Director Pavel Servatinskiy, and Chair of Russia’s Mining & Metallurgical Trade Union Alexei Bezymyannykh,’ the press office says.

NTMK implements a number of projects aimed to reduce its environmental impact on a yearly basis. Last year, the company focused on upgrading its coke-production departments, with new crude benzene top-loading units installed on the site, which reduced harmful atmospheric emissions by 5,000 kg a year.
