Environment Minister Calls for Liquidation of Korkinsky Mine

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 29, 2017. Russia’s Minister for Natural Resources & The Environment Sergey Donskoy asked Rosprirodnadzor (the state environmental watchdog) to facilitate Russian Copper Company’s project on liquidation of Korkinsky Mine, keep the project under their special supervision, and provide the ministry with regular updates on the project’s progress.

The decision to place the agency in charge of the project was taken by the minister following a meeting on environmental safety in particularly vulnerable areas on June 27, 2017. The meeting was attended by Head of Rosprirodnadzor Artem Sidorov, federal constituencies’ ministers for the environment, and representatives of companies that are implementing environmental projects on their premises.

Russian Copper Company’s President Vsevolod Levin and Environment, Job Safety & Industrial Safety Director Natalia Gonchar came to the meeting to inform the other participants of how their Korkinskiy Mine reclamation project was going. The project is part of Tominsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise.
