UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 30, 2017. The fifth railway wheel treatment line will soon get launched at EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK), EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Relations Center reports.

The contract for the delivery of all the needed equipment was signed by NTMK Managing Director Alexei Kushnarev and Niles-Simmons-Hegenscheneidt Managing Director Gero Martel.

‘We signed an agreement that is expected to result in a much greater wheel treatment output and thus to help us fully cover the home and international markets’ needs. Our partner Niles-Simmons-Hegenscheneidt has a reputation as one of the world’s best manufacturer of mills that meet all of our requirements,’ Kushnarev says.

The wheel treatment line consists of four fully automated mills to ensure robotized loading and offloading, a robotic arm to move the wheels around, a chip disposal unit, and a coolant treatment system for the cooling lubricant that is used in the environmentally neutral close cycle. The line’s capacity is estimated at more than 66,000 railway wheels a year.
