MegaFon: Sverdlovsk Region Online Traffic Up 44%

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 10, 2017. One Sverdlovsk Region-based Internet user downloads the equivalent of about 4,000 worth of e-books a month on average, MegaFon Ural’s press service reports.

In Chelyabinsk Region and Yamalo-Nenetsky Autonomous Region, the amounts are, respectively, 3% and 9% larger. Sverdlovsk Region-based users’ online activity resulted in a 44% increase in the amount of traffic compared with last year. Every one in two MegaFon subscribers use their smartphone to access the web.

According to Romir, 81% of Russian Internet users prefer mobile Internet connection and only 5% have never used their smartphones or tablets for the purpose. Russians use their mobile connection to spend time on social networks (84%) and search for information (75%). Every one in four respondents also read books and play games online, whereas 21% of those surveyed use the financial services available, including e-banking.

‘Increasingly more often, our subscribers use the online connection their devices offer not only to check the weather forecast or traffic situation and to surf their social networks but also to use banking apps,’ says MegaFon Sverdlovsk Region’s Director Alexei Voronin.
