UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 18, 2017. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Omsktransmash manufactured and launched a recirculating water supply/cooling unit for its hot-forming line, the company press service reports.
The new unit is meant to prevent overheating of the caterpillar track-making line. The unit consists of a 4-m3 tank, a heat transfer plant, and a number of booster pumps to ensure water recirculation.
The plant used to rely on regular tap water for the purpose in the past, which resulted in great financial expenditure and energy costs.
‘According to the plant’s experts, a new unit like this would cost at least 8m RUR to buy. However, the company only invested 1.5m RUR in the project, as most of the things were made right on site. Moreover, the unit reduces the plant’s potable water spending by 80% to 90% and cut down on waste-water discharge considerably,’ the press service says.
