Ural Vagon Zavod Makes New Pellet Hopper
23 March 2017 (13:51)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 23, 2017. A new hopper 20-5197 meant for transportation of pellets and sintered ore was recently developed at Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s head plant. The hopper got certified for compliance with the Customs Union’s TRTS 001/2011 technical requirements and will now be manufactured at the head plant’s and Volchansky subsidiary’s departments.
According to the corporation’s press service, the 20-5197 hopper was designed by experts from the corporation’s Ural Railcar Building Design Office.
The engineers embarked on the project in August 2016, when an order was placed by a metallurgical enterprise. There was a lot of preparatory work related to the technical parameters the pellet hopper had to comply with, design documentation development, preliminary tests, and getting the railcar ready for production.
The 20-5197 hopper railcar with thermally insulated coating is suitable for rail transportation and unloading of pellets and sintered ore (temperature: up to +400 degrees centigrade). Since the insulated coating is flexible, the heat-generated expansion adjustments can be made easily.
