Ural Vagon Zavod to Select Best Workers
2 March 2017 (14:45)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 2, 2017. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s head plant is going to hold a blue-collar job contest this year in order to distinguish the best professionals in their field.
According to the corporation’s press service, the goal is to both select the best-performing workers and to enhance the prestige of blue-collar occupations as well as to contribute to the national machine-building industry’s development.
Workers from sixty-two different fields - designers, checkers, welders, and even pastry chefs - can compete in 150 contests altogether, including 109 department championships, 22 production division contests, and 19 plant-level contests. For one, the bridge crane operators’ contest will involve people from the machine-building giant’s fifteen departments, whereas the Best Electric Equipment Technician Contest will involve contestants from eight departments.
This is the first time the plant is holding its Business Management & Strategy Contest for the plant’s managers; the competition goes along the lines of Global Management Challenge (the world’s largest strategic management initiative). This is both a competitive and an educational event aimed at improving the participants’ managerial skills.
