UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 23, 2017. The popular science show Notafact filmed one of its episodes on the premises of EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK); the episode dwells on the Russian metallurgical industry’s history and development and on the life of Efim and Miron Cherepanov, engineers and inventors, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s press office reports.

The show host, actor Andrei Burkovsky, went to NTMK production site to look at how pig iron is made at the blast furnace department and to ask workers some questions about their job. He also got acquainted with the steel-making process at the plant’s converter shop; the show episode features a video of how pig iron gets poured into a converter and how samples are taken.

‘It was exciting to take a look at a metallurgical facility. This is the first time I’ve been to a plant like this, and I am truly impressed with the way the converter shop performs,’ Burkovsky said.

‘The show’s shooting team will stay in Nizhniy Tagil till January 21. In addition to NTMK, they also went to Gornozavodskoy Ural National Park and to Glavny Mine (where Mount Vysokaya used to be and where the two Cherepanovs used to work). The show crew were quite taken aback when they saw the unique exhibits at Kuibyshev Museum (a former plant),’ the press service says.

Notafact will get aired on Zvezda on February 9.
