Yekaterinburg: Ice Plunges on Epiphany Day
18 January 2017 (13:47)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 18, 2017. A Communion service, with Great Blessing of the Waters, will take place at Akademicheskiy District’s parish church in commemoration of the Baptism of the Lord, RSG-Akademicheskoye’s press service reports.
Ice bathing opportunities will be provided for the believers, with a baptismal font and heated changing cabins installed next to the church.
‘Great Blessing of the Waters takes place the day before the Baptism of the Lord and on Epiphany Day itself. Orthodox Christians then keep the holy water at home throughout the year, using it sparingly and with great reverence. We invite everyone to attend the Communion service and to get some holy water that will be available at the church on January 18-19, following the vesper,’ says the church rector Father Daniel Ryabinin.
The Communion service will be held at 9AM on January 18, the vesper and the confession time start at 5PM, followed by another service and the blessing of water at 11:30 PM.
