FGC UES Boosts Orenburg Substation

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 20, 2016. Federal Grid Company United Energy System launched a new, 501 MVA-strong autotransformer unit at its Gazovaya Power Substation in Orenburg Region, the company press service reports.
This is expected to ensure a more reliable power supply for the area’s gas refinery and helium plant, oil and gas companies, a metallurgical works, and Iriklinskaya Power Plant.
Gazovaya Substation now runs on a set of three 500-kilowatt single-phase autotransformers (total capacity: 501 MVA), with new sensors and monitoring appliances to ensure equipment diagnostics online, protection relays and automation units, an additional pumping station, and a firefighting system. The substation is now 1,002 MVA strong.
