Ural Federal District: Locals Switch to MegaFon Twice More Often

8 December 2016 (13:49)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 8, 2016. Mobile phone users based in Ural Federal District are moving their phone numbers and accounts to the telecommunications provider MegaFon increasingly more often, the company press service reports.

Based on the available data, the number of MegaFon’s new subscribers doubled compared with the beginning of the year.

Interestingly, ‘mobile number migrants’ are typically men under thrifty-five (62%) rather than women (38%). According to MegaFon’s analysts, every one in four MNP applications submitted by subscribers in the Greater Urals gets submitted by someone living in Sverdlovsk Region. Yekaterinburg residents proved the most active MNP users among those based in big cities, followed by residents of Chelyabinsk, Perm, and Tyumen.

The Telecommunications Ministry reports around 110,000 mobile phone numbers get moved to a new carrier in Russia every month. The portability figures rose dramatically in the spring and summer of 2016; as for MegaFon, Urals-based subscribers were most interested in switching to this carrier in August through November.
