Yekaterinburg Arena to Get Roof Rings

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 22, 2016. Sinara Group’s Sinara Development, the general contractor for the reconstruction of Yekaterinburg Central Stadium in time for the World Cup 2018, is now busy connecting the stadium’s internal and external roof rings.

Sinara Group’s PR Center reports the first connecting support beam (height: 31m; weight: 10,000kg) has been installed next to the northern stand.

‘In order to make the transportation of such a bulky structure easier, the beam was originally made of two equally large parts that were then assembled and welded together right on the construction site. It took us two 200,000kg-strong cranes and a special cross arm with a hoist to lift the beam to the necessary height. The beam was then attached to the external and internal roof rings with special ball-and-socket joints. We are going to have fifty-four such beams installed all in all,’ the press service says.

According to Sinara Development’s Director-General Timur Ufimtsev, these radial beams are the key roof structure components alongside the external and internal rings.
