UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 1, 2016. Federal Grid Company United Energy Systems bought eight new equipment units for its West Siberian branch, the company press service reports.
The new vehicles are meant to be used during the fall/winter period as well as in high-water seasons.
‘These special-purpose units will help us deal with emergencies faster and improve the staff’s working conditions. We now have one Berkut 8 snow-and-swamp-going vehicle, one Tinger tracked and wheeled ATV, and six Buran AD snowmobiles. All these were manufactured in Russia and can be used for crossing marshes, water and thick snow obstacles, and impassable roads in all kinds of temperatures typical of Western Siberia and the Polar North,’ the press service says.
The company employs 350 road and special-purpose equipment units to maintain its West Siberian power supply system in working order all in all. These are mainly tracked and wheeled ATVs that take inspectors and repair teams to less accessible locations. The vehicles have by now been switched to cold-weather mode to ensure an emergency-free winter/fall season.
