UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 31, 2016. Federal Grid Company United Energy Systems coordinated a number of emergency drills at its power-generating facilities based in Perm Territory, Sverdlovsk Region, and Orenburg Region, the company press service reports.

The drills showed that the local rescue teams and dispatchers were quite well prepared to ensure unfailing system performance in the fall and coming winter.

The circumstances of an emergency simulated for training purposes were as follows: the low temperature and a heavy blizzard resulted in massive power outages in several 500-kilowatt mains at once.

‘The rescue teams of 500-kilowatt substations Tagil and Gazovaya and workers from Reftinskaya Power Station and Perm, Sverdlovsk, and Orenburg dispatcher units all cooperated to handle the simulated emergency and dealt with all the problems typical of this time of the year. They took all the steps necessary for an efficient emergency response in the given conditions. The teams set up backup power supply systems at once and prepared the faulty equipment for repair,’ the press service says.
