UrBC, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region, October 25, 2016. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won in the annual Competitive Purchases Leader Contest, the key professional competition for Russian customers and supplies, as Leader of Purchasing Innovations.
‘The company’s logistics and supply schemes are fully automated and rely on an ORACLE-based corporate IT system. We started using ORACLE in 2004 and launched our own ORACLE-based trading platform in 2007. So far, the platform has been used for over 20,000 purchasing transactions involving supplies or services worth more than 80bn RUR all in all. Starting from 2012, the platform also gets used by MMK Group. All the agreements and technicalities can now get signed and approved electronically, which cut down on the time it takes to get all things coordinated and made the entire decision-making process more transparent,’ MMK says.
Starting from April 2015, any organization can apply for MMK Doors Open Day and meet MMK Deputy Director for Commerce Sergei Ushakov. A round table discussion ensures maximum transparency of MMK purchasing policy. The fact that there are always plenty of visitors at Doors Open days proves that this is a good way to ensure purchasing transparency on the one hand and to learn about possible new suppliers and new offers on the suppliers’ market on the other.
