UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 22, 2016. Sinara Group’s Sinara Development completed the eight pylons that are going to support the roof of Yekaterinburg Central Stadium (Yekaterinburg Arena). The goal is to get the stadium fully renovated in time for the World Cup 2018, the Group’s PR Center reports.
The supports are forty-two meters high and consist of an inner and outer metal rings with reinforcing fittings and shrink-proof, high-resistance concrete in between. The pylons took over 2,000 m3 of concrete to complete altogether. Joint-like Maurer support systems (diameter 1.5m) got mounted on top of the pylons so that they could connect the supports to the roof.
According to CEO Sinara Development Timur Ufimtsev, support pillars are perhaps the most important and labor-intensive stage in the construction of the stadium.
‘These pylons are large and technologically sophisticated structures designed to withstand the enormous roof pressure. Builders are currently busy assembling the roof’s outer ring whose metal beams will rest on the pylons. Fourteen out of twenty-seven sections have already been installed. We aim to get finished with this stage by late October,’ Ufimtsev said.
