KULZ Holds Firefighting Contest
17 August 2016 (14:21)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 17, 2016. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Kamensk Uralsky Foundry Plant (KULZ) coordinated a professional skills contest among its volunteer firefighting teams. The contest was held at the company’s firefighting unit, the corporation’s press service reports.
‘The teams had to go through two rounds of competition. First, they had to put on their firefighting uniform as quickly as possible. The next task was to unfold the primary and the additional hose lines, take the applicator up to the second floor of a prop tower, and hit a target with the stream. Last year, the mock fire had to be put off right on the ground, so this time the task was a bit more challenging, and therefore more spectacular,’ the press service says.
‘There are 104 volunteer firefighters working at the plant. These employees undergo training, take part in Fire Safety Month events, and see to it that their departments comply with the fire safety requirements,’ says head of the plant’s Civil Defense & Emergency Department Oleg Yugov.
‘These contests are one of the ways for the volunteers to learn the practicalities of handling firefighting equipment.’
The winning teams received trophy cups, medals, certificates, and money prizes.
