UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 28, 2016. EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) launched a modern gas-filtering system that has reduced the gas and dust emissions by four times, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s press service reports.

The new system is fitted with 450 filtering hoses to prevent harmful atmospheric emissions. The system also comprises a filtering chamber, a special transporter to move the dust into an airtight bunker from which it can be re-used and recycled. The equipment has improved the crane operators’ and the steelmakers’ working conditions considerably.

A similar unit will be mounted in the plant’s converter shop in June. All in all, NTMK has spent around 45m RUR on gas-filtering system renovations and upgrades this year so far.

The company’s converter shop is currently one of Russia’s most up-to-date steelmaking facilities. All of the plant’s four converters and CC machines got reconstructed in the recent years.
