Ural Vagon Zavod Takes Part in Memorial Day Events

23 June 2016 (13:42)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 23, 2016. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s member enterprises took part in the special events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the day the Great Patriotic War began, the company press service reports.

With the support from Nizhniy Tagil Council, the company helped historically reenact the march organized by the plant on June 23, 1941. Actors from I.V. Okunev Palace of Culture and the city Youth Theater, members of Ural Vagon Zavod’s youth organization and workers from other local enterprises all took part in the reenactment.

‘The script was based on an article in the company newspaper Vagonogigant (now called Mashinostroitel). The article presents a very detailed account of the march and quotes the speeches made there in full, including the addresses by the then director of the plant Georgi Alexandrov, the Communist Party local committee’s First Secretary Tikhon Sigoshin, the Party’s Sverdlovsk Region committee representative Klimov, and leading Stakhanovites and Komsomol members. The speeches were presented by actors from a stand in Glory Square. The overarching message in all the addresses was the same: take one’s job duties very seriously and help make sure the occupation forces leave the country as soon as possible,’ the press service explains.
