22 June 2016 (13:44)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 22, 2016. Officers from Sverdlovsk Region division of Rospotrebnadzor (the state-run consumer rights watchdog) had over 12,000 kg of apples and nearly 5,000 kg of pears destroyed, the agency’s press service reports.
The fruit boxes were seized on Yekaterinburg-Perm highway; it turned out the foods came from a sanctioned source.
‘As it happens, the van had12,438 kg (1,194 boxes) of Polish apples and 4,608 kg (256 boxes) of pears of unclear origin. The apples were packed into cardboard boxes with no identification marks on them except for Poland’s Standard 15 stamps on the bottom; the pear boxes had some illegible stamps on them,’ the press service says.
The sanctioned fruit was mixed with soil and placed into a land fill.
