6 June 2016 (12:51)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 6, 2016. The 4th International KAZAKHSTAN DEFENCE EXPO 2016 Exhibition opened at the Republic of Kazakhstan Air Force Base in Astana. The presentation of Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation and Kazakhstan Paramount Engineering’s joint project combat module Barys proved the entire event’s key feature.
‘The corporation’s Director-General Oleg Sienko took part in the solemn presentation to Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev. He also spoke about the unprecedented 57-mm automatic artillery unit AU 220M made at Burevestnik Central Scientific Research Institute (one of the corporation’s member enterprises). The unit got integrated with an 8x8 chassis made in Kazakhstan,’ the company press service says.
The unmanned combat module is a remotely controlled, circular-rotation combat system meant for both currently designed and (upgraded) existing armored vehicles and is expected to increase the fire power of motor-rifle and rifle units. The 57-mm gun’s capacity allows for targeting most of the known armored units: there are currently no armored vehicles or carriers immune to AU 220M.
