Yekaterinburg: 400 Buildings Without Hot Water Supply

31 May 2016 (18:04)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 31, 2016. An accident at Chkalovsky Heat and Power Station left over four hundred buildings in the area without any hot water supply since May 27, the district’s communal housing services department informed UrBC.

The problem is expected to be fixed by May 30.

However, other buildings in Chkalovsky District may still be left without any hot water supply on June 1-5 since the power station is planning to do hydraulic pressure tests.

Last year, residents of Vtorchermet and Shinniy actually had to make do without hot water for one and a half months. The supplier simply stopped providing the buildings with its services in July under the pretext of repairs. The supply was supposed to be resumed on July 20, then the deadline got shifted to August 4, as the new pipe fittings failed to arrive in time. Yet no hot water was there on the said date. The public prosecution authorities warned Chkalovsky Heat and Power Station in mid-August that this could have legal consequences. The supplier admitted later that the hot water supply was actually missing because of unpaid housing bills.
