FGC UES: More Control Over Energy Facilities in Forest Fire Season

24 May 2016 (09:25)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 24, 2016. Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System has introduced more control over its energy facilities in the time of the year when thunderstorms and forest fires are more likely to occur, the company press service reports.

In all of the company’s divisions, rescue and maintenance teams underwent special drills and training to make sure they can stay alert and concentrated in an emergency. The power facilities have been inspected, the teams also made sure all the firefighting implements were there and in perfect working order. Higher-risk territories are now under special supervision.

All the fire alarm systems and automatic fire-extinguishing equipment were also inspected. The situation remains challenging, however, in the Far East, where forest fires in Amur Region have meant the FGS UES local division must perform in a special mode; the electric power supply remains uninterrupted.
