UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 16, 2016. Workers from Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s member enterprises took part in the national Russian Ski Track race, the company press service reports.
‘Nizhniy Tagil usually uses the corporation’s head plant’s ski resort as one of the primary venues for the event. Employees of the head plant, Ural Transport Machine-Building Design Office, Ural Scientific & Technological Unit, and Uralcryomash (all of them with different professional qualifications and from varying age groups) competed for the prizes. Some 3,000 amateur skiers headed for the snowy tracks on this sunny day: this was a record in the company’s history. The retired former employee Yuri Mikhailov (81) was this year’s oldest ski race contestant; he actually performed quite well in the race,’ the pres service says.
201 people competed in the eight-kilometer ski race, while the corporation’s management took part in the three-kilometer VIP race.
Winners were selected in every age/gender group; Anna Slyunko from the Technical Control Department, Maya Sadym from the Lean Production Department, Irina Zudova from Foundry Department 7, and Galina Bykova from the Assembly Department were the best among female contestants, while Oleg Troshin from the Technological Institute, Evgeniy Koshelev from the Non-Standardized Equipment Production Department, and Vladimir Lenshin from the Technical Control Department outstripped all other male skiers. All the winners were awarded with certificates, medals, and gifts.
