9 February 2016 (09:26)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 9, 2016. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Director-General Oleg Sienko met the Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Russia Smaïl Allaua; their meeting was also attended by Algerian Embassy’s Economic Issues Counselor, the company press service reports.

‘This was a very warm-hearted meeting; the two parties both commented on the ways in which the two countries’ economies, and therefore their businesses, were similar, and on how many cooperation opportunities opened for them in the future,’ the press service says.

The two parties talked about how Ural Vagon Zavod would work with its Algerian partners in the railway and railcar-building and road vehicle production fields and about setting up the corporation’s after-sale service centers in Algeria. All this should benefit the country’s transport infrastructure, create new jobs, and promote international trade in the area.

According to Ambassador Allaua, the changing global oil prices are not going to affect Algeria’s existing government programs (including those on port and road construction) in any way.

As Oleg Sienko is also Chair of the Russian-Algerian Business Council, the organization of the Russian-Algerian Economic Forum in Moscow on February 8-12 was also discussed.
