UVZSHOP, Zvezda to make toy Russian tanks
17 December 2015 (17:16)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, December 17, 2015. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s souvenir shop UVZSHOP.ru and Russia’s leading model and board games manufacturer Zvezda are launching their new collection of toy-sized replicas of military vehicles produced by the corporation’s member enterprises.
According to the company press service, the first two models – T90S (tank) and Solntsepek TOS-1A (flame-throwing unit) – are already on offer in shops. 10,000 copies were made for each of the two models.
Toy replicas of Terminator and Terminator 2 (combat fire support vehicles) and Meta-S (self-propelled howitzer) will hit the stores in the first half of 2016. In the future, the product range will be complemented with other serially produced military vehicles the corporation makes.
Ural Vagon Zavod State Secretary and Deputy Director-General Alexei Zharich says it took them quite a while to find a suitable partner for the project, and it was Zvezda that offered them the best terms.
‘The goal was to bring the miniature replicas of Russian military vehicles, which our country has every right to be proud of, back to the toy stores. They disappeared from shelves some time ago, so our children took to playing with foreign toy tanks. Now the young children’s interest in military vehicles brings them to the country’s defense industry later on,’ Zharich said.
