UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 2, 2015 Sakhalin-Energy and Pipe Metallurgical Company/TMK, one of the world’s leading OCTG manufacturers, signed a memorandum on partnership. Under the terms of the document, TMK will make pipes with TMK premium threaded joints for Sakhalin-Energy’s needs.

TMK press service reports the two parties intend to work as partners and find ways of mutually beneficial collaboration in what concerns getting pipes with premium threaded joints certified for the Sakhalin 2 Project.

Under this memorandum, the pipe manufacturer’s TMK UP premium threaded joints for casing pipes made of chromium, high-carbon, and highly corrosion-resistant steels will get certified for compliance with the ISO 13679 CAL 4 2014 standard. The two companies will also conduct joint technical audits to get ready for Shell’s TAMAP approval. So far, ТМК UP PF premium threaded joints for 244.48mm casing pipes have already been certified. Now certification tests for pipes used in the oil and gas industry are an indispensable part of the global O&G standards.

Sakhalin-Energy’s Chief Executive Director Roman Dashkov said at the signing of the memorandum, ‘Our prospective cooperation will mean we’ll be able to switch completely to Russian pipes with premium threaded joints. These will replace their foreign counterparts we relied on previously. This cooperation is particularly important for our emerging import replacement programs; it also promotes economic growth, an increase in the amount of competitive Russian products on the market, and the development of new technologies. Sakhalin-Energy makes every effort to involve Russian enterprises in its Sakhalin 2 Project as much as possible.’
