UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 9, 2015. A team of Uralvagonzavod Corporation designers won the third prize in the Innovative Developments Contest in the Railway Cars & Track Machines category. The contest was part of the 5th International Railway Vehicles & Technologies EXPO 1520 in Shcherbinka, Moscow Region.

The corporation's press service reports the prize was awarded to petroleum tank car 15-5157-04.

'This tank car was developed by the corporation's head plant in cooperation with Ural Railcar-Building Design Office. The product is meant for transportation of oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, reactor fuel, jet fuel, gas oil, kerosene, and natural gas condensate via 1,520mm railways. The 15-5157-04 make has already been certified for compliance with the technical regulations and approved for mass production. The corporation is quite ready to start making the car on a serial scale,' the press service says.

The new tank car uses an innovative, enhanced freight capacity (up to 73 tons) bogie 18-194-1. Tare weight is now 2,000 kg smaller due to the use of thinner body walls and external frames.
