Omsktransmash tests mechanized bridges

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 29, 2015. Omsktransmash (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation) produced a set of heavy-duty mechanized bridges TMM6 and an amphibious track vehicle PTS4.

The corporation’s press service reports special in-plant compliance tests had to be performed prior to shipping the machines to the customer. For one, the plant’s experts were to make sure the equipment would prove efficient in actual operating conditions.

‘To test the bridges, special earth trenches were dug on the premises to imitate natural obstacles, with bridges placed over them. The purpose of the test was to make sure the bridges could be put in place at the declared speed and had the declared carrying capacity. The latter parameter was checked with the help of Omsktransmash designers’ invention, a fully loaded, 60,000-kg fire vehicle; this is the maximum weight TMM6 can carry. The next round of tests took place at the company’s special range, with the bridges doing very well in those and proving completely reliable and multi-functional. The TMM6 bridges are equally well suited for passage of both military vehicles and troops in trying conditions as well as for that of special-purpose civilian vehicles and rescue teams in the less easily accessed parts of the country,’ the press service says.
