UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 28, 2015. Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s head plant’s armored vehicles museum became part of the Urals’ Gemstone Ring, a tourist route that is a pilot project on the federal domestic tourism development program for 2011-2018, the corporation’s press service reports.
‘The project was approved of by Rostourism and placed on the federal tourism program list. The Urals’ Gemstone Ring is a tourist route that covers the most historically important landmarks in the local towns and cities. The armored vehicle museum was chosen as one of Nizhniy Tagil’s most interesting sights,’ the press service says.
Rostourism Deputy Head Roman Skory points out industrial and war-historical tourist routes are quite popular these days.
‘Visitors need to see all the achievements we have always been so proud of yet which, for security and secrecy reasons, were not available to the general public until very recently. An agreement signed by Rostourism and Uralvagonzavod will draw extra attention of both Russian and foreign tourists to the site,’ Skory said.
The museum has already introduced opening hours on weekends, which is seen as essential by all the national tour operators. The project coordinators believe this will ensure a regular increased visitor inflow.
