Tominsky holds public hearings in Chelyabinsk Region

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 23, 2015. Public hearings on Russian Copper Company’s Tominsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise took place in Dolgoderevenskoye, Chelyabinsk Region, on July 21, 2015, with 477 people (including regulatory bodies’ representatives) attending, the company press service reports.
The hearings were dedicated to the environmental impact the development and processing of porphyry copper ore at Tominsky Deposit as well as the waste disposal facilities will make on the surroundings. The deposit’s potential is estimated at 28m tons of ore a year.
Russian Copper Company’s Director for Environment, Labor Protection, & Industrial Safety Director Natalia Gonchar spoke about the three rounds of public hearings and about how the enterprise would operate. Mikheyevsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise DG Alexander Sizikov also presented his report.
‘The audience discussed such vital issues as reimbursement in case of possible damage to the locals’ property during blasting operations, relocation of residents in the sanitary protection zone, the enterprise’s water supply, management of tailing dumps, and much else besides,’ the press service says.
