February 6, 2015. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) supplied over 2,780,000,000 kg of metal goods to pipe manufacturing enterprises last year, which was the all-time high in the company’s post-Soviet era history, MMK reports.

In 2013, 2,240,000,000 kg of goods were sold and delivered to pipe-making plants. In 2014, the figure rose by 24.3%, making up for 33.2% of MMK’s home market sales (compared with 29% a year earlier).

MMK has always been one of the leading metal goods suppliers for the Russian pipe manufacturers. The company’s production options expanded considerably when the plant’s plate Mill 5000 was launched in 2009, with the capacity of 1,500,000,000 kg a year. Since the company managed to master the production of more complex pipe steels, MMK was able to contribute to major oil and gas projects such as Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok, Bovanenkovo-Ukhta, Central Asia-China, the Southern Gas Corridor, the Power of Siberia, and East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (VSTO) pipelines.

MMK’s key pipe-manufacturing customers are Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ Group), Volzhsky Pipe Plant and Seversky Pipe Plant (member enterprises of Pipe Metallurgical Company), Almetyevsk Pipe Plant (OMK Group), Uraltrubprom, and Naberezhnye Chelny Pipe Plant.
