January 27, 2015. An upgraded tramway 71-409 made by Uraltransmash (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation) was delivered to Volgograd, the corporation’s press service reports.
Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s Director-General Oleg Sienko and Governor of Volgograd Region Andrei Bocharov agreed to have the upgraded 71-407 and 71-409 trams tested during their recent meeting.
The technicalities of these performance tests were discussed at Uraltransmash Director-General Alexei Nosov’s meeting with Assistant to Governor of Volgograd Region Vassiliy Galushkin and Metroelectrotrans Director-General Nikolai Zhukov in early October 2014.
This three-piece, low-floor tram 71-409 will be delivered to Volgograd for a 200-day performance test. The tram is expected to be used at one of the city tram routes.
The 71-407 tram reached Volgograd as early as November 2014 and is now undergoing a performance test as well.
The tests are being supervised by Uraltransmash after-sales and tram production teams.
Upon the completion of the tests, experts of Volgograd depot as well as the city residents and visitors to the place will give their assessment of the new trams; this feedback will be used as a factor in making the decision to buy or not to buy them.
