Uralelectromed’s two workers face charges for accident

November 7, 2014. Public prosecution authorities of Kirovgrad, Sverdlovsk Region, carried a bill of particulars for the criminal case involving a shift foreman and a blower of Uralelectromed (a member enterprise of UMMC Holding). The two men are charged with violation of safety regulations at work (Article 216 (Part 2) of the Russian Federation Criminal Code), the press officer for Sverdlovsk Region public prosecution authorities reports.
The inquest team believe that the accused did not comply with the technological regulations for the production of crude copper; as a result, some amount of molten metal burst out of the converter unit in July 2014.
A 29-year-old female employee was killed immediately with severe thermal injury. Besides, the company repairman and blower also suffered from serious thermal burns.
The criminal suit was handed over to Kirovgrad municipal court to be processed.
