October 29, 2014. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) mastered a technology for making hot-dip galvanized rolled products with premium (Group C) surface quality using its cold-rolling facilities at Sheet Rolling Department 11, MMK Information & PR Department reports.
The rolled products in question are meant for making outer parts of automobiles. Russia’s largest carmaker, Avtovaz, is currently their key consumer.
In fact, foreign automobile giants with factories in Russia also appear to be interested in the rolled goods with premium surface quality: Volkswagen, Ford, Renault, and Nissan all renew their orders for MMK’s zinc-coated products with Group C surface quality.
MMK shipped 550,000 kg of Group C rolled stock to carmakers in Q1 and 2’14; in Q3, the figure rose to 4,473,000 kg. Since these zinc-coated rolled products have been processed by customers successfully, stable demand for this product type is to be expected.
