Sverdlovsk Region public prosecution authorities to check ore mining enterprises for labor protection compliance

October 27, 2014. Following a request from Public Prosecutor of Sverdlovsk Region Sergey Okhlopkov, a inspection of how labor protection legislation is complied with at local ore mining enterprises was organized, the press service for the prosecutor’s office reports.
‘The inspection will comprise an assessment of the efficiency of measures employers take to ensure safe working conditions in the mines,’ the press service says.
Checks began after an accident occurred at Vysokogorsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise’s Magnetitovaya Mine. Where a worker was killed due to a rock fall.
Police officers are working at the scene of the accident at the moment. An ad hoc committee will be set up to look into the causes of what happened; experts from Sverdlovsk Region State Labor Inspectorate will be on this committee.
