September 9, 2014. METCOMBANK acted as the partner of Fabergé Museum-St Petersburg, the bank’s press service reports.

Russia’s first private museum of national importance, the Fabergé Museum was opened at the Shuvalov Palace in Saint Petersburg in late 2013. The museum exhibits one of the world’s best collections of Russian applied arts and jewellery dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century.

‘Nine famous Fabergé eggs created by orders of the last two Russian emperors are the most valuable pieces of the collection. What also makes the museum’s Fabergé collection unique is that it contains samples of the entire range of Fabergé products: fancy artwork, jewellery, precious haberdashery, silverware, interior pieces, and devotional articles. In addition to Fabergé masterpieces, the collection also comprises works by his contemporaries, renowned Russian jewellers and silversmiths: I. Sazikov, P. Ovchinnikov, I. Khlebnikov, F. Ryukert, and many others,’ the press service says.

The money obtained from the museum’s partners will be spent on exhibition, publishing, restoration, purchasing, educational, and social projects.

‘It’s delightful to see that non-state museums can now present to the public unique collections such as the one put together by the Fabergé Museum founders. It is a great honor to be able to support this important initiative and thus to contribute to the conservation of this country’s cultural and historic heritage,’ says METCOMBANK Chairman of the Board Dmitri Torbenko.

‘The Fabergé Museum’s many socially important projects would be impossible without our partners’ help,’ says Chairman of Link of Times Cultural & Historical Fund and the museum’s director Vladimir Voronchenko.

‘We are happy to see METCOMBANK among our friends and thank the bank management for their support.’
